HERD ABOVE THE NOISE: INSTALLATION. There are 170 speakers in the installation version with a new custom software system. It requires a large floor for it to go on. This size can vary the minimum size could be 20ft by 20 ft to 60 ft by 50 ft. The installation plays thousands of sounds from around the world and is arranged like an entangled map of the city the artwork is installed in. What you see and experience is a map of wires and cables and speakers including over 170 speakers, custom made amplifiers and cables that are all used to make the installation. The aim is to create an online aural experience that evokes place, both as literal description but also developed musical composition. As globalization fractures the identity of the city experience we start to find things that appear the same the world over.
